These items are my personal kitchen essentials. You definitely don’t need every single thing here, but if you cook three meals a day, having a few good tools is very helpful!
School Lunch Essentials
- These bright pouches are great for packing smoothies or yogurt. They are BPA free and easy to clean.
- These silicon molds are perfect for making your own frozen yogurt tubes.
- These are a new addition to our lunch lineup since our old Ziploc lunch containers have been discontinued. I like how versatile these are though!
- This sports bottle filters out microscopic pathogens, chlorine, even sediment and silt! Kids can fill up anywhere and have safe, clean, filtered water.
- I use these little bamboo picks for making fruit kebobs, vegetable skewers, meat and cheese skewers, holding sandwiches and wraps together, their uses are endless!
- I use these molds for shaping hard boiled eggs, cutting out sandwiches, as rice molds for fun onigiri and cutting out cheese shapes
My Favorite Kitchen Tools and Gadgets
- I use cast iron for most of my cooking. It distributes heat evenly and food doesn’t stick.
- I use a bacon press for making perfect grilled cheese sandwiches. It’s not just for bacon!
- This is perfect for making breakfast. You can make bacon, eggs and pancakes all at the same time!
- Perfect for cooking soups and stews, this dutch oven has high end looks and performance without the high end price of the french brand.
- This keeps your grass fed butter at the perfect temperature on the countertop so it’s always spreadable.
- This chain mail “sponge” gets cast iron clean in no time.
- You need a really good chef’s knife. Skip the sets and buy a few high quality knives.
- This is a simple, well-made paring knife for peeling fruits and vegetables. Buy quality and buy once.
- I use a basic mesh strainer similar to this to strain my broth, rinse berries, and line it with cheesecloth to make whey
My Favorite Appliances
- For green smoothies, soups, sauces and a million other uses, nothing beats a high speed blender.
- I use my food processor for everything from making pie crust, to grating cheese to slicing vegetables. It’s easily the most used appliance in my kitchen.
- While I don’t use my stand mixer every day, it gets a workout during the holidays, on birthdays and for dinner parties.
- This is the busy mom’s best friend.
- We got rid of our microwave a while ago. Now I use this little oven for almost everything. Toasting, baking in small amounts and heating up leftovers.
- We have fresh-ground coffee every morning thanks to this beauty. As parents of a toddler, we take our coffee seriously.
Everything Else
- No need to eat garbage when you’re on the go, keep these grass-fed, no garbage added sticks on hand for busy days.
- From fermenting, to freezing broth to storing dry beans and grains, you can never have enough jars.
- These nut and seed butters are soaked to reduce phytic acid. They’re great for when I don’t have time to make my own.
