Have I mentioned before that I used to be a preschool teacher? Well I was.

Which makes the last year of Darling Baby’s life that much more appalling. Sure, we’ve played and read books and listened to music and gone to baby school, but as far as any real official “ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES” go, I’ve completely struck out.

So I’ve decided to get one the ball and use my blog to hold me accountable.

And here, without further ado, here it is.

Darling Baby’s Spring Sensory Table:

Spring Sensory Table

Here’s what I did:

1. I took Darling Baby’s sand and water table and lined one side with a garbage bag so it wouldn’t get too nasty. (This was probably an unnecessary step, but oh well.) (You can find the sand and water table we use here)

2. I filled the lined side with potting soil

3. I sprinkled some smooth, shiny rocks around both sides for texture, and to represent seeds and water. I put green ones in the soil and clear ones in the empty side. (You can find something similar here)

4. I cut up a $0.97 bouquet of silk flowers and “planted” them.

5. I added some pretty eggs just for fun. I thought Darling Baby might figure out how to open and fill them too, and that it could prepare him for upcoming Easter egg hunts. (I used these)

6. I put out little flower pots, gardening tools and a watering can. (you can find child-sized gardening tools here)

Everything I used is something we already had, or something we will be using. I don’t like to be wasteful when I’m planning preschool enrichment activities because I try to teach my kids to reduce, reuse and recycle.

As you can see from the picture, Darling Baby got right to work.
